SMILE LASIK (18+)

What Is SMILE LASIK?

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) LASIK is a next-generation, minimally invasive laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea through a tiny incision—no flap required. Using advanced femtosecond laser technology, SMILE corrects refractive errors like nearsightedness and astigmatism with exceptional precision and comfort. Most patients enjoy 20/20 or better vision within days.

Who It's For

Ideal for adults aged 18 and older with stable vision who want a gentler, flap-free alternative to traditional LASIK. SMILE is especially suited for patients with dry eyes or those in active lifestyles where corneal stability is important.

Stable Vision for 12+ Months

Stable Vision for 12+ Months

Candidates should have a stable prescription for glasses or contact lenses for at least one year. This ensures the best long-term results from the procedure.

Age 18 & Above

FDA-approved for individuals 18 and older, SMILE provides a safe, minimally invasive option to achieve lasting visual freedom early in life.

Healthy Eyes

We conduct a complete diagnostic assessment using high-resolution corneal imaging to create a 3D map of your eyes, ensuring the procedure is perfectly customized to you.

Lenticule Creation

(10 minutes)

Lenticule Creation

A femtosecond laser creates a precise, lens-shaped piece of tissue (lenticule) inside the cornea, all through a tiny incision—no flap required.

Lenticule Removal & Vision Correction

(5–10 minutes)

Vision Correction & Healing

Through the small incision, the lenticule is gently removed, instantly reshaping your cornea and correcting your vision. The eye begins its natural healing process immediately.

I am very impressed with West Texas Eye Associates. My first appointment was with Dr. Bradley to determine that I was a candidate for cataract surgery and lenses. I was scheduled for surgery on both eyes with Dr. Shehz. One eye then 2 weeks the other eye. Both surgeries went as planned, were painless, quick and no recovery time. I had no issues seeing and had immediate results. Over the next week it got even better. The front desk staff was very efficient and friendly , the eye techs were all friendly and efficient, and the Doctors are well trained, explained the procedure in detail and provided excellent care. I could not be more pleased with the entire process and my new vision. I highly recommend West Texas Eye Associates to anyone with eye issues.

Most patients feel little to no pain during SMILE LASIK. You may experience mild pressure during the laser application and slight discomfort for a few hours afterward.

SMILE LASIK can be a better option for patients with mild dry eye, as it preserves more corneal nerves compared to traditional LASIK.

Yes, vision correction with SMILE LASIK is designed to be long-lasting. However, natural age-related changes in the eye can still occur over time.
