FAQs
Our specialists in Dallas and Greenville are here to answer your questions clearly and honestly, so you feel confident before, during, and after your SMILE LASIK procedure.
How soon can I return to work or sports?
Many patients return to work and light activities within 1–2 days. Strenuous exercise and swimming should be avoided for about a week.
How is SMILE LASIK different from traditional LASIK?
SMILE LASIK uses a single femtosecond laser and a small incision instead of creating a corneal flap, making it less invasive and reducing the risk of certain complications.
Does the procedure hurt?
Most patients feel little to no pain during SMILE LASIK. You may experience mild pressure during the laser application and slight discomfort for a few hours afterward.
Am I a good candidate if I have dry eyes?
SMILE LASIK can be a better option for patients with mild dry eye, as it preserves more corneal nerves compared to traditional LASIK.
Are the results permanent?
Yes, vision correction with SMILE LASIK is designed to be long-lasting. However, natural age-related changes in the eye can still occur over time.
What if I need an enhancement later?
Enhancements are possible if needed, though most patients achieve excellent results with a single procedure.
